Hi,
I've recently moved house, so I now have FTTC. I still have my old archer 1600 router/modem and still waiting for my NBN Connection Box to arrive (didn't have one). I've also got Google Nest Mesh WiFi (router + 2 points), so my question is:
Do I need to connect the NBN Connection Box => Archer => Google Nest Wifi Router
OR
Can I just connect the NBN Connection box to Google Nest Wifi and completely ditch the Archer?
Just want to get rid of extra device redundancy.
Thanks in advance,
-ilya
Hi @ibuber . Easiest thing might be to change to BYO router data-only plan (no VOIP service). This doesn't use VLAN ID. The Google would just connect to the NBN box.
Otherwise, the VR1600 needs to be put into bridge mode, but I don't know how the put the ethernet WAN interface into bridge mode. Easy enough to put the DSL (RJ11) interface into bridge mode.
You could replace the VR1600 with a smart switch which would handle vlan tagging to NBN box and standard ethernet to the Google.
Options for VLAN tagging and Google devices.
