Why is an email I am trying to send to a know friend being blocked by Administrator error 550 "Spam"

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

      Subject:    Link

      Sent: 8/11/2023 7:04 PM

The following recipient(s) cannot be reached:

      'vk3dc@telecom.com' on 8/11/2023 7:04 PM

            550 msg-202: Rejected as SPAM.

There is no detail in message header or info in the return email for me to follow up

Is it the telstra server or the new TPG server... I just upgraded my service with TPG from DSL to FTTP and this is a new problem for me

Hi @ccvale

As the error said, your email was rejected as SPAM.

The mail server for the email address that you are reaching, blocked the email and it is not with TPG server.

If you are able to send out a test mail or emails without links to the said recipient, then it is possible that their mail server is blocking the links you are sharing.

@BasilDV  You quote "As the error said, your email was rejected as SPAM."

Yes there is no message header or information in the email as an attachment so who rejected the email?

Strange that there is no message header from the telstra email server.

Yes it is only the URL that I sent to the recipient that is being blocked. All other emails get through to him/her.

Thanks! but how can you be sure that the Telstra server blocked and rejected it as there is no information in the email. (I use microsoft outlook pop3 client) here is the sort of stuff you get from an email server when an email is blocked or rejects an email)

Reporting-MTA: dns; mta653.syd.oss-core.net
X-Postfix-Queue-ID: 3C3ADB11
X-Postfix-Sender: rfc822; XXXX@tpg.com.au
Arrival-Date: Wed, 25 Oct 2023 06:19:36 +0000 (GMT)

Final-Recipient: rfc822; xxxxxx@hotkey.net.au
Original-Recipient: rfc822;xxxxxx@hotkey.net.au
Action: failed
Status: 5.2.2
Remote-MTA: dns; mailstore03.service.sydnmtc.int.oss-core.com
Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 552 5.2.2 <XXX@hotkey.net.au> Quota exceeded
(mailbox for user is full or email sent exceeds users quota)

This is the sort of message you get from a server when something is rejected.

I am thinking that the email I got from System Administrator!! Sytem Administrator of what system??? TPG Telstra where? Just not happy that a mail is blocked by AI and there is no valid way of checking where and who blocked it in reality! Cheers I wish I had valid info about how and who blocked it! Are you sur TPG didn't block it?

Hi @ccvale

The error on the sender part will be different compared to what you have received.

The rejection as a spam error usually comes from the recipient's mail server, as they are the one who won't allow the message to go through.

You may try to send the link via Post Office/webmail to check if it will go through.

Here is the message header it looks like it is TPG's SPAM server that is knocking back the particular URL Thanks

Hey @ccvale,

To take a further look into what's happened with this email, we'll need to check with the Post Master. So we can do that, we'll ask you to send us a private message, including the full header of the error message/bounce-back error.

Just a heads up, we edited your last post to remove your email address.

Thanks,
