Thanks david64, I only use the vpn for programmes from Sweden. With vpn off the speeds and pings are good. It's just strange that vpn was not on when I was getting the AltusHost ip address. I rarely use vpn on mobiles. If it happens again I will be checking that the Avast vpn is not operating in the background. It's obviously not a problem with TPG.

I suspect this AltusHost is from vpn. Even though I have not used it for several days the AltusHost was there. I just turned on the vpn and there was AltusHost and the slow connection. Turned it off and I was back on tpg with proper speeds and ping. So the vpn is behind this and needs to be checked that it is not interfering if slow internet and long pings are experienced.

Hi Shane, One of the notebooks is so new it only has wifi, the old one with ethernet and wifi showed no difference. The clue to the problem is whatever is this AltusHost? As long as I am not connected to that non TPG ip address I am OK.

The last couple of days we have had slow internet and long ping times when using Notebooks. At the same time the mobiles have been running at full speed which is 12mbps for this connection. I am attaching screen shots of the slow speed test, then next day we were back to full speed on the notebooks. Notebooks and mobiles are all going through the same wifi modem. What I noticed was when we had slow internet and long ping times on notebooks we were connected to an "AltusHost" not TPG. Once connected to TPG we were back to normal. What is this AltusHost?

HI david64, I just tried reducing and turning off the junk mail filtering settings to see if it would restore function of the filters. After updating the page, no change to the settings had occurred. It is as if the junk mail filtering system is just not there any more. Bit of a worry as I had to delete a possible filter preventing me from getting Microsoft emails when I needed them. I had been getting spam emails from a "microsoftstore" trying to coax me into Bitcoin trades, I know that particular site was not legitimate Microsoft and the unwanted emails were still getting through the filtering system despite the filters. Usually I have spam well under control but now I can't do anything about it. On Chrome, Mozilla and on mobiles using Android I also can't access the mail filtering on TPG.

Hi BasilDV, I just checked, still can not access the mail filters. Just attaced a screen shot of what is happening to all filter lists. This is also happening on aliases as well. Thanks for checking.

Yesterday I tried to access the mail filters on TPG mail through the website and all I get is an error "404 Could not find the page you are looking for" and this is for all mail filtering, even on mobile or pc. Is there a problem with tpg mail filters? I also had the experience of suddenly not being able to log into my notebook and had to get microsoft to send an email code to reset password. No email was ever received. I managed to get a SMS code to get back in to the notebook. In my mail filters I have a block on a spam source from"microsoftstore" which is a spam site in Canada, not actually Microsoft. Could that filter have been preventing genuine emails from Microsoft from getting through? I could not edit or delete the filter because of the above problem, could not access the email filters in the first place and that is still the case. Help Please.

This morning we have had a lot of rain overnight and the internet is still working. I will update if we strike problems again. So far I don't think there is any problem on our premises, it is most likely and NBN problem between us and the node which is 0.7km away. Many thanks for looking into this.

After nearly 18 months almost trouble free, last weekend a NBN technician was interfereing with the pit on our FTTN system. He said a previous technician had cut off the people further down the dead end street. Since then, once we get some rain we have the internet appear and disappear every couple of minutes. The landline remains functional. Using Pingtools I can watch our IP address with TPG appear and disappear. We are in for a wet summer so I can expect this to continue unless NBN fixes the issue. If the weather fines up we are OK again and the TPG engineers say "problem resolved" which it is not until the NBN pinpoints why the internet is not remaining connected even though the landline is. Can this be chased up with the NBN? It is not a problem from my modem to the devices on wifi. Ethernet connections from the modem are also affected. An inspection of the pit with the tangle of wires in their closed container showed no moisture in that area and the pit is quite deep so it would not flood but these wires are only squeezed together, not soldered when a connection is made. Screenshot shows the disconnected service.
