Connectivity and latency issues

beanmeister
Level 2

Am getting extremely high latency issues recently. It happens periodically, but when it does happen, its down for the day.

Current issue and troubleshooting:

Constant ping of Google servers shows that the ping hits 1000ms, then slowly declines down to 8ms, then like clockwork the next ping is 1000ms again and slowly declines again and the cycle repeats all day. The same occurs for any website, not just google.

Makes gaming or any internet browsing extremely painful and unusable in some circumstances. I cant be the only one experiencing this?

Hi @beanmeister ,

Welcome to the community!

Thanks for bringin this to our attention. Please perform the troubleshooting below and send me the test result via Private message with your account details (Username/Customer ID together with the address on file).

I. CONTINUOUS PING:

To conduct a continuous ping, ensure that none of your other PCs are doing internet activity.
Open up the command prompt of one of your PCs.
Type the following in "ping <IP address> -n 1000" without the quotations.
ping 192.168.1.1 -n 1000
ping http://tpg.com.au -n 1000

Wait for the test to finish and for the PING STATISTICS, found at the end, to show up.
Save the screenshots.

We should have 3 ping test results.

II. TRACE ROUTE

To conduct a trace route,
Open up the command prompt of one of your PCs.
Type the following in "tracert http://tpg.com.au" without the quotations.
EXAMPLE: tracert http://tpg.com.au

Perform another trace route to your game server.

Save a screen shot of the traceroute results.

III. SPEED TESTS:

For speed tests, please run the speed tests at : http://www.speedtest.net
Please just get a screenshot after the test is complete.
Please don't forget to indicate the timestamps for these tests.

How do I private message (PM) in the community

Regards,
