Internet connection keeps dropping

I am a new customer with a 50mbps down plan. From day 1 we have been getting internet drop outs 6-7 times a day which is causing issues with my kids school meetings and my work meetings. As well as the family trying to play online games/stream/cast games and movies. I was recommended TPG and we moved on from Telstra who's service was expensive but very good. Please help with the issues we are having as it very much seems like the modem router we were sent is either faulty or cannot provide us the service we are paying for.
