Office VPN very slow and routing through Perth

I've been having some speed issues with my VPN, and after talking with my IT team they said it's most likely an ISP issue and they can't do anything on their end. Speedtest results go from 90/45 to sometimes 12/8.

 

Aside from the poor speed, I notice that when I connect to the VPN my Windows weather widget thinks I'm in Perth, even though I'm located in Sydney and the office is also in Sydney. I asked a few colleagues and they don't have the same issue.

 

Does this look like something that the VPN techs should be fixing or is it actually a problem on TPGs end?
