Really slow internet

Hello, 

My internet has been terribly slow recently and I have no idea why. I can get 40MBS when standing next to the WiFi modem you provided me but when I am just 8m away with an almost clear line of sight (not walls) I get under 10MBS. 

 

The modem is the TP Link Archer VR 1600V. 

 

Like everyone, I am working from home with lots of Zoom meetings and this is not going well. Can you please look into this or help me improve my speeds?

Hi

 

Many factors can impact Wifi performance.

Your modem will be transmitting two Wifi Networks. One in the 2.4Ghz band and the other in the 5Ghz band.

 

They will be labelled something like this.

WIFI-ABCD 

WIFI-ABCD-5G

 

Can you try connecting to the one you are not currently connected to and try running another speed test.

Hi Peter,

 

Thanks for getting back to me. 

 

On the 5G WiFi I just ran the speed test and got: 9.34Mbps download and 17.9Mbps upload. 

On the non 5G WiFi I got 8.9Mbps download and 3.14Mbps upload. 

 

Certainly not the 40Mbps I am paying for. 

 

Can you please help?
