Router needs to Automatically configure

Hi, my broadband was activated at this address years ago and all of a sudden yesterday we’re receiving a message that the modem needs to automatically configure. It’s said this message for more that 24 hours now. Could someone advise what I can do to fix this issue. I have been on hold for 2 hours today and still can’t get through to anyone.
