TPG cuts off customer access to internet when NBN data limit is exceeded

TPG has a couple of "low cost" NBN plans which have a monthly data limit of 40GB and 100GB respectively. These are really handy for low income customers who simply can't afford higher cost plans.

When the data limit is exceeded, the NBN connection is shaped to 32Kb/s, which was adequate for minimal internet connectivity 15 years ago with ADSL, but is totally unusable now. Neither browser or email access works with 32 Kb/s.

If you no longer have basic functionality (browser/email) your NBN internet connection is effectively cut off.

TPG needs to review and update their connection speed shaping policy so that customers retain at least minimal functionality.
