Can not connect nbn box

I am a new customer and have received my modem. I have an nbn box with coax input, from my time with TPG previously. Should I have received a new nbn box? The instructions with the modem tell you to connect the nbn box to the wall with a telephone cable.
The only coax output I have in the house is an old Foxtel port from the old owners of the house, which I have plugged into but doesn’t work, and haven’t received an alternate nbn box or adaptor. Please advise. I have sent several emails with no reply and couldn’t get through on the phone either (30 minute hold)
