Chromecast & Sagemcom 5866T

Just connected the above modem and the internet works fine on all devices. However, the Chromecast will connect to the WiFi but then is not available to cast to - there seems to be some issues between Chromecast and this modem looking through the forums but I cannot seem to solve it. Is there a setting I should be looking at or is it time to return the modem? Note, the setup was working fine yesterday at the previous address with a different modem. I have factory reset the Chromecast and connected from scratch

Hi @ssamp2014 ,

 

The Chromecast will not work on our supplied Sagemcom modem but another work around is using a 2nd router extension on where you can connect the device. Please see the existing thread below.

Thanks! Looks like it will be returning to TPG then! Unbelievable that you can't use everyday devices with this service

this is very disappointing , 

 

did some wireshark , we can see in the normal SSID mode , mDNS are blocked when passing Sagemcom Fast 5866T Modem

 

once connect to the guest SSID, mDNS traffic is passing correctly.

 

please ask Sagemcom dev team to fix this issue, or we might have to return the device.

Hi @jsmith1221 ,

 

Our supplied Sagemcom modem comes with modified firmware to complement the network and security of the service, which means some features are not available.
