Hi all I am new here so please be kind. While waiting for my modem to arrive in the post I was wondering if it was at all possible to please obtain modem settings so I can utilise my service in the meantime as if the modem is a huwaei 659 i will be returning it back as one of my previous providers gave me that modem and it was crap.

I know how to configure the modem and all of that, i just don't wan't to run up a mobile phone bill by using mobile data

Thanks Elicia

Elicia,

It very much depends on your NBN type (HFC, FTTC, FTTP etc) and which provider you're with (iinet, Westnet, internode, Adam etc), so if the follwing link doesn't help you, please let us know the NBN type & provider.
Meanwhile, checkout https://www.tpg.com.au/support/setup_nbn_fttp if you're FTTP or https://community.tpg.com.au/t5/Broadband-Internet/NBN-Fibre-to-the-Curb-FTTC-Setup-Guide/td-p/7856 if you're FTTC.

i'm with tpg i signed up today i'm only assuming tpg is the provider

i'll either be using  a netgear gateway pro v7610

or a netgear n300 wireless modem

its fibre to the node connection

If you're waiting for your modem (router) to arrive, presumably from TPG for a new FTTN service, it will already be configured for you. Just follow the instruction sheet you will get (where to plug things in) and you'll be connected.

Hi @chaoticminions,

For new services, we recommend customers to check if their service has been installed and activated.

We have created this community article, which contains a video on How to track your TPG service installation

We also send an email notification once the service is activated.

If you have received this email and the service is still not working, we recommend to check if the equipment is properly set up and we have created setup guides for all technologies that TPG use : New Connection Setup Help

In your case, our record shows that the order has been processed yesterday, but we are still waiting for the activation date that will be provided to us by our wholesale partner NBN Co. Having said that, even if you have a different modem at this point and configure its settings, please note that it is not going to work.

We recommend that you wait for the email notification regarding the service activation. You may check the details you need in order to configure your own modem here: https://www.tpg.com.au/support/nbn/generalsetting

Please be advised that your modem must be NBN FTTN Compatible and the VLAN ID must be set to 2.

Moreover, you may track the delivery status of the TPG supplied modem here: https://auspost.com.au/mypost/track/#/search

We have sent the consignment details to your account registered email address.

Let us know should you have further queries. Thank you.

I understand that the service may not be active, however i was hoping to use my home service instead of my mobile phone data which is why I asked as using my mobile phone data will cost $$$ more

If you are referring to your old service with different ISP, you may try to check if it's still working and may use it while waiting for the TPG NBN to be activated.
