I have switched from Optus to TPG for nbn but have not received a new modem so my internet is still not connected will I be getting one in the mail? Or how do I get the internet to work?

Your plan does not come with a free WIFI modem/router. We will only provide an internet service to your nominated address. Thus, you will need to buy your own modem that is NBN compatible.
