The problem with ISP-provided email is that you need to keep updating your email each time you change ISP. And now with TPG discontinuing its provision of email, we are forced into a similar situation or pay to keep the ISP-provided email address.
One way to have a "permanent" email address is to use one of the free ones from gmail, yahoo, etc. Another one is to purchase a domain name and run your own email server, as all that is required to have access to email is internet access, a public ip-address and a computer running an email server. I am sure that a cheap computer similar to a Raspberry Pi would do the job well enough. On the other hand, some domain name sellers offer web-site and mail boxes together with storage as a package deal, obviating the need for a separate email server.
