Automatic Voice over WiFi installed in smartphones for all new TPG mobile network customers

A question for management.
When TPG launches their new 4G network mid this year the biggest problem is going to be, building enough 4G sites to provide in-building coverage for basic voice and text calls. The big carriers like Telstra and Optus will use TPG small coverage to attack TPG or other customers by saying if you switch to TPG's new 4G mobile network you will have more dropped voice and text calls. With nearly most new smartphones ( Samsung 6 and above or Apple 6 and above and others etc) Voice over WiFi (VoWiFi) and Voice over 4G (VoLTE) is built in as a standard in the handset's firmware . This means if the smartphone connects to your home WiFi or any family / friends or work WiFi then your standard incoming and outgoing voice and SMS / text calls will automatically switch to go over the WiFi network even though you may have lost 4G coverage. This will mean if are on a 4G VoLTE call outside and walk inside the call will automatically switch to Voice over WiFi (VoWiFi). Will TPG launch VoWiFi for all the TPG new mobile network customers as well as provide a same day service to reinstall Samsung or Apple (Or others) phone firmware with TPG native look and feel firmware which also has TPG VoWiFi and VoLTE firmware?

Good day @Challenger,

Welcome to TPG Community!

Currently we are still in the process of building our very own Mobile infrastructure and it's too early to confirm the services that will be available with it as it's still under assessment.

Once this is launched, information regarding this will be available on our website at tpg.com.au.

Kind regards,

gds

Hi Moderator, a year has gone by since your last post and there is no additional information on tpg.com.au about VoWifi. Can you please provide an update.

Hi @gds

As of this point, this particular service is currently not available to TPG mobile customers.

Thank you.

Hi Will, thanks for you prompt reply. Will TPG be offering this service in the future? As I understand it, TPG uses the Vodaphone network which does support Vowifi. We have very bad in building reception here so this would assist us greatly.

I'm using Galaxy S7 with Optus firmware and get no VoLTE. What do i need to do for VoLTE to work?

TPG does not have a mobile network.

TPG were building their own small mobile network and never completed and then they stopped as they were looking to merge with Vodafone. TPG is only a Vodafone mobile reseller.

Vodafone has a new Core network for Voice over LTE (4G) however has not made it opened it up or made available for their resellers (MVNO's) like TPG.
