FTTP Upgrade

Hi, i recently upgrade to Super fast FTTP.  The installation was complete at my home not so long ago.

Since then I have been experiencing some reduced performance on WIFI.  It appears to be ok in the room where the Modem is but other rooms in the house it is quite glitchy, on devices it will buffer and struggle a bit at times..  The distance is not far either.  I brought a new Modem to see if this would help and it took some time to connect.  My TP Link AX73 seems to be working now but the WIFI is still not great.  I have not changed the location of my modem from before the FTTP upgrade, it is next to the NBN box away from other devices.  I am wondering if i can improve the WIFI performance somehow?  Can i use a different channel for 5G or would the installation cause this issue?  Seems weird that the WIFI is bad considering i have upgraded to FTTP and the cabling under the house is all new, I would have thought this would have improved the performance?  My speed is not an issue and i have tried 2G also but it seems to be the same.

Hi @jakewillo1 . Wifi has problems on both routers.

Wifi problems are intermittent? It performs ok most of the time?

You can use your wifi device to check the wifi connection speed between device and router. (Modern Android devices have a really complicated way of doing this.) Do it when normal and when you have the bad wifi performance. Interference can cause the wifi connection speed to drop.

You can use your wifi computer/laptop to check for other wifi networks that might be causing interference.

In a command window, do:      netsh wlan show all

It shows SSID names, signal strength and channel. Do it next to router and where you use wifi devices

On 2.4G band, use channel 1 or 6 or 11 to reduce interference.

You can use your ethernet computer to ping, say, google.com.au when normal and when you have poor performance. See whether it might be external network.
