HFC no connection

I think I may have posted in the wrong section so I'll post the issue here.

NBN was installed today and I got the email stating the service had been activated.
As TPG have had issues sending me the router, I've tried connecting the NBN modem directly to my pc with cat5e cable just to test the connection.

However, I'm not getting an internet connection. My wired adaptor settings shows a gigabit max connection with packets going one way but not the other. When using the diagnostic tool I'm told there is no valid IP configuration. All 4 lights on the modem are green. I won't be home until later tonight but I'd like to know if there is a common solution to this issue.
