HUAWEI Home Gateway HG659 only as a modem

Hi 

I have already taken off 

a) DHCP (synology nas)

b) wifi access point  (TP link access point and wifi disabled)

b) network hub functions (I used TP link hub to connect all my LAN machines)

Can I disable router function too and just use this as a intenet modem to my NBN. I want to use  Synology RT1900ac router as the router and enable firewall, web VPN etc on that
