Inconsistent internet speeds

We have been experiencing inconsistent speeds and sometimes are unable to conduct a zoom session. We plugged in a LAN cable today switched off all other devices and got the following:

10.15am:  ping 31 download 2.2 upload 0.6

10.18am: ping 29 download 2.0 upload 0.9

10.33am: ping 29 download 16.6 upload 0.6

10.57am: ping 29 download 2.3 upload 0.1

11.05am: ping 27 download 4.4 upload 0.6

11.25am: ping 28 download 18.7 upload 0.7

11.31am: ping 31 download 2.4  upload 1.0

11.34am: ping 40 download 0.7 upload 0.1

Back on WIFI

2.45pm: ping 27 download 19.8 upload 1.9

This inconsistency is making it almost impossible to teach online, is there a fix? or should we just go back to ADSL?
