Internet dropping out constantly

My connection constantly drops out all day, and most recently I have had to replace the phone cable to the modem 3 times to get it to reconnect the ADSL sync light even my jbhifi knows what I want when I go there to buy a new cable I'm using the Archer VR1600w modem and I think it needs replacing (how do I get a replacement?) or any suggestions could be handy as I'm over buying new cables and having a crap connection and having to restart it constantly. Has been fine for over a year until the last 4-5 months.
