Running 2 wifi networks

Hi everyone

I have a ecovacs robot vacuum that only connects to 2.4 gHz Wi-Fi. Since getting a google nest mesh network the vacuum cleaner doesn't work. I have an old tp-link archer vr1600v. Can I connect it via ethernet to the nest and use the old Wi-Fi network that it broadcasts to connect to the vac? If so, how?

Thanks

Hi @mataylor677 . The ecovacs support site has suggestions for why it doesn't work with a mesh system. To do with how the mesh might manage the wifi network names. You could change the mesh to use separate network names for 2.4G and 5G.

To connect the VR1600, do a factory reset, set its LAN ip address to 192.168.x.2 (whatever x is on Nest) and disable DHCP. Connect the VR1600 using LAN to LAN. You can disable the VR1600 5G network so it doesn't interfere with the Nest. Change the VR1600 2.4G channel to a different value from the Nest (use 1 or 6 or 11).

The ecovacs will show as a device in Nest. You can give the ecovacs a reserved ip address in Nest.
