Static IP hostname change

Hi,
I have done a little digging and searched for Static ip hostname.

I need the hostname for my IP to return my Host's name and not the default assigned by TPG. (It is reeking havoc with my mail server and dns server.) Is this a process where I can edit the DNS zone record or is it done by TPG.
Assistance appreciated.
