Get online support
Hi, I just upgraded my plan to NBN 50 hoping to do online class and video confernencing at home, but I found out the upload speed can't get over 1Mbps similar to NBN 12 plan. I've plugged my laptop with network cable into modem directly, but it's the same. Download speed can get to 40Mbps without a problem. Can you please check for me? username: lisasun0422. Thanks a lot!
Hi @lisasun0422
I just had a quick look, this was very recently upgraded to NBN 50
Have you tried to power cycle the Router ( maybe turn it off for a few minutes I
Then run the WIRED speed tests again 3 X using http://tpg.speedtestcustom.com/ as the source.
One other thing, you're not behind a VPN are you ?
HI, i've just done another test, power off modem, leave it for 3 minutes, and power on again. And then use my laptop and data cable to test again, i get 47Mbps/0.8Mbps download/upload. Test result:
http://tpg.speedtestcustom.com/result/383d7d40-9f2d-11ea-b96f-c36e821308e8
during the test, it seems upload was capped to 1Mbps. I have no VPN setup, and have tested on another laptop and iPhone, iPad, they're the same.
Hi, any update? If the NBN 50 can't achieve over 1mbps upload speed, there's no point for me to upgrade, and it'll be ridiculus to have nearly 50mbps download and less than 1mbps upload nowaday, I may have to consider switching the service provider. Thanks.
Turns out, the broadbrand router TP-Link C1200 provided by TPG 2 years ago has got "Qos" setting enabled which limited upload speed to 1Mbps, after changing to 50Mpbs, now I can achieve 18Mps upload! All these years I've been throttled by this router at my home!
I hope it's not a typical setup by TPG for other customers.
