Using second router as Wifi extender

i am having occassional freezing whilst streaming content to my Smart TV despite upgrading my NBN router (Netgear Nighthawk X4S AC2600 ) and even adding a range extender (D-Link AC1200)  to my home network. I would like to try connecting the now redundant router that TPG supplied (TP Link Archer VR1600v)  WAN port by ethernet cable to the powerline adaptor that is also connected to my Foxtel Box near my Smart TV. I have considered spending $200 to upgrade the AC1200 to a AC1750 but want to try this fix before spending more cash as Im a pensioner these days.

Any feedback on how to do this or advice on better options is very welcome folks.

Hi @ronduckett

Let me try..

TP Link Archer VR1600v should be connected to the extender LAN to LAN

  1. Go to TP Link configuration page and give it a static IP address far from the DHCP range of your Netgear router.
  2. Disable DHCP on TP Link
