Working from home when throttled

Has anyone yet experienced throttling on their ADSL2+ service when working from home, and if so, what was it like? i.e. are you still able to make Skype calls or are they impossible?

 

I am on a 50Gb ADSL2+ plan, and with no way to contact TPG to ask to upgrade to unlimited (tried chat, tried e-mail, "Change Plan" page on website does not work), my allowance is about to run out and I'm worried I will no longer be able to work from home. If this is the case, I will most likely LOSE MY JOB so thank you TPG for that.
