static public IPV4 address

I am running a server at home that requires public ipv4 adress and every few days i am having to update the ip adress for others to connect. is there a way to make my IPV4 adress static?

Hi @Trey

 

If you are under the NBN residential account, then it is set to have a Dynamic IP address.

 

You need to change to our NBN Small business account as we provide Static IP address for it.

Posting here in case others have the same question. 

 

Even if you have a dymanic IP issued by your ISP, you can use a service like dyndns.com or noip.com, most routers can work with them so when your IP changes their DNS updates with the new IP. This doesn't help you if whatever you are working with truly needs a static IP, but I find often users that think they need a static IP really just need a DNS to point to their public IP.
