I have had a TPG ADSL bundle for some years, and have opted to upgrade to a TPG NBN bundle that is due to be connected this month. Do I need to specifically request that my current land line phone number be retained under the new bundle, or does this happen automatically?

We were able to retrieve your account using your community details. You will be keeping the same phone number when your plan has been changed from ADSL to NBN soon since you will be staying on the same address.
