VOIP from NTD Unit-V1 port?

SOLVED Go to solution

When I successfully moved to FTTP, I was instructed to connect my home phone to the Uni-V1 port on thee NBN NTD, and all is well. That connection was showing on all the TPG video material last time I looked.

However, a poster on Whirlpool claims that TPG have told him 'no longer available'. Doesn't sound right. Could a mod please clarify. Has that poster been scammed?

I emphasise that my own connection is fine. Best thing I ever did -- opting to go to FTTP.

I now understand that NBN are ceasing to offer new voice services on Uni-V1. That would explain it.

As far as I know, to use VOIP from the NTD Unit-V1 port, you need to have an ISP that supports this option and a compatible phone that can plug into the UNI-V port. You also need to activate your VoIP service with your ISP and follow their instructions to set up your phone.

I found an ordinary analogue phone is fine.
