Hot Archer VR1600v modem router

This appears to be a known issue:

I have an Archer 1600v Modem Router which runs "hot"  - so hot in fact that the case has a large distinct brown area.  From reading other posts it appears this is a known issue and in fact the unit should probably be replaced. 

Please see attached photo and how to proceed ...

Also as an aside I find it disappointing that the unit does not provide an "activity" light re internet access
