Hi,

I recieved the below email from Tp-link

Dear Customer,

Hello and thank you for contacting TP-Link support.

Sorry that the products we have now including VR2800 don't support SOS and ROC now. But our engineers are working on this and trying to work out a firmware to support SOS and ROC.

It takes some time and likely will come out next quarter.

We look forward to hearing back from you. If you have additional information or feedback to provide, please feel free to let us know.

I dont think SOS and ROC are essential features. The internet should run just fine even without support. Your internet will not shut down if you dont have these features.

NBN co's Network Interface Specification – UNI-DSL. lists both SOS and ROC as low importance features.

Best to wait and see.

I also have the following 2 modems and got the email from TPG regarding NBN SOS-ROC rolling out on March 31st

* TP-Link Archer VR1600v

* Netgear Nighthawk D7800

What I would like to know is, do these 2 modems support the NBN SOS-ROC features and if not, what happens on March 31st? Does this mean I can't conntect to the internet?

As the TP-Link Archer VR1600v was a TPG provided modem and if the NBN SOS-ROC features are not supported, do TPG have a replacement modem program?

It also seems like the compatible modem page on https://community.tpg.com.au/t5/Featured-Articles/0-Setup-fee-No-Lock-In-NBN-BYO-Modem-Hardware-Comp... might be incorrect if infact the Netgear Nighthawk D7800 isn't supported as it states on the page that it is.

 Hi Guys!

All modems currently supplied by us for NBN FTTB/N already support SOS-ROC, so no action is required with current hardware.

What happens if my modem doesn't support SOS-ROC?

  • The NBN FTTB/N connection may not run at its full speed or may drop out.
  • NBN Co may block the modem from connecting if it is interfering with other users’ services.
  • NBN Co may not accept escalated cases for the NBN FTTB/N until the modem is changed to one that is SOS-ROC compatible.

Info on this article $0 Setup fee No Lock In NBN BYO Modem Hardware Compatibility - TPG Community currently does not cover SOS-ROC.

Kind regards,

Joseph D

You stated that all equipment you are CURRENTLY supplying support SOS-ROC. Obviously some people may not know what equipment is currently being marketed by TPG. Can you please supply a list of which OF YOUR  routers do and which do not have SOS-ROC compatibility.

Thanks

I can confirm that the D7800 does not and will not support SOS and ROC

From TP link

Dear Customer,

Hello and thank you for contacting TP-Link support.

  1. Sorry that the firmware to support SOS/ROC is not likely to be released by 31 March 2022.
  2. We are certain that VR2100,VR2100v,VR600 will support SOS/ ROC via the firmware update, but we are not sure whether or not for other models including VR2800 there will be a new firmware for this issue.

But when NBN network enables SOS/ROC after 31 March, you can try enable SRA function on your vr2800 to reduce the influence of SOS&ROC.

Please log into the web management control panel and refer to the attached picture to turn on SRA.

I am happy to see someone had the same inquiry as I do.

tplink told me it did not support yet but some models will do later.

And they sent me their forum link: https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/536562

Hope it helps.
