Thanks for providing the details via PM, @erinradcliffe. As per checking, your address is classified by NBN Co. as Service Class 13, which means that it's NBN Fibre to the Node (FTTN) serviceable, the node is connected to the premises and this is only for remote activation.
You should be able to connect the modem we have provided directly to the first telephone socket. The first telephone socket is normally located in the kitchen. Are you able to check?
