Get online support
Last few days, was finding that many sites couldn't be accessed, with browser just saying "Resolving Host..." for a long time. It only worked on sites I'd visited very recently. Even trying to get to tpg.com.au
I think the primary DNS is failing for some reason.
E.g. running this command at cmd prompt (.35 is primary DNS)
>nslookup tpg.com.au 203.12.160.35
failed with:
*** dns1.tpgi.com.au can't find tpg.com.au: Query refused
But this one (.36 being secondary DNS):
>nslookup tpg.com.au 203.12.160.36
succeeded with:
Non-authoritative answer:
Name: tpg.com.au
Address: 203.26.27.38
The Primary / secondary config (.35/.36 respectively) is just how the router was configured. Since it cam from TPG, I assume that's their settings.
I resolved it by switching the primary/secondary around in router settings. Seems to work better now.
Hi @blueblue ,
Thanks for sharing this information, we're glad that the issue was fixed by switching the primary/secondary around. In the event that you'll experience the same issue you may also try to use public DNS/google for testing purposes and revert it back using TPG's DNS.
Let us know should you require further assistance.
Cheers!
