Hi,
I have a VXG200-G2V TP-link router and planning to convert my other Archer 1600 as extender/repeater and I am unable to find WDG settings to enable it in the tplinkmodem.net for Archer 1600.
Can you please advise how can I enable Archer 1600 router as a repeater without using ethernet cable as i dont have an option for cabling from ground floor to 1st floor. I need to use this only as a repeater -WITHOUT ETHERNET CABLE. Is it possible. Both are TP-Link routers, source where the main DSL is connected and the 2nd one. Please help how can I resovle the issue, as I m not getting signal in my bedroom on the 1st floor. How can we resolve this without ethernet cable ?
I am a long time TPG customer.
Thanks
Hi @manu5555
If that's the TPG provided Archer 1600, then the Wireless bridging feature is not supported on it.
The only option is to use Ethernet to use it as an access point/extender.
If you can find a guide, you may flash the firmware of the Archer 1600, then install the updated firmware on the TP-Link website.

Hi mate,
Thanks for the reply. Yes its a TPG router. I bought a new one as the old one doesnt push the signal stronger. Now I cannot use ethernet to connect with Archer 1600 as this is in the ground floor and no cabling till 1st floor.
So r u saying, its not possible . Is it possible after flashing the firmware ? So first flash the firmware downloaded externally and then try it. so that WDG settings will be enabled on Archer 1600 ? Is that right ? Please advise the steps. Appreciate it.
Thanks agian.
We don't have any steps on how to flash the firmware of the device as it may or may not have a negative effect on the modem/router.
If you are successful, then you may follow the steps to enable the WDS bridging on it here: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/faq/1555/

THanks for your help. FYI if any one land here in this page, This bloddy router cannot be used as an extender/repeater, as this is a modem router. We need a router only to work it as an extender/repeater. So dont waster yoru time, fixing it or make it work without ethernet.
All the best.
Thanks TPG for your help.
Cheers
