I have been waiting 6 weeks for my nbn installation

I registered and paid for a modem and the first month of my nbn plan on the 5/3/20. I am still waiting for this to be installed and my current plan with Telstra is about to be cut off. I am a uni student who also works from home so I require internet. I spoke to an nbn specialist finally after weeks of trying to get a hold of the chat option and this was only because I messaged the Facebook page. They told me that I would receive and email or sms regarding my installation shortly and I am yet to receive anything. I really need the internet to be connecting for work and uni. Why is my installation taking so long?
