Wall connection

Hi, I received my router ordered online and everything said it would be easy to plug in and connect once the service is ready. Except up until just now when i received it, i had not looked at the telephone connection. Supposedly this is my telephone connection on the wall (photo attached) -clearly the cables won't connect with that. While I am waiting for my service to be active I want to get this sorted- who do i contact to do that? It has been 10 years since I have had any kind of landline phone or internet connection so what do I do next?
