Invalid Phone Number when Purchasing Phone Plan

Looking to buy the 25GB sim only mobile plan for new customers to use while I'm travelling in austrilia for 4 months. When I go to puchase, the About You section is asking for an austrilain phone number and will not take an american phone number. How are you going to ask me to provide an austrilain phone number when I am trying to purchase one?
