30 days notice re porting to other ISP

I am out of contract and am thinking of porting to other ISP.

I am a bit confused of how the 30 days notice works.

My billing date is 9th of each month & is paid in advance a week before, i.e. 2nd of each month.

If I have to give a 30 days notice, say on 25th Oct. when will be the last date that I could start to port out to other ISP without penalty, or would I get any credit back for what I have been paid in advance.
