Hi
My plan is NBN 100 and literally the last month on my Xbox one I can download with 10 Mbps average also during the on line FIFA games the game buffers at least 4 to 5 times. The last 6 months my plan upgraded to 250Mbps for free and the Xbox was flying downloading 246 Mbps and no buffering was very very good. Before the upgrade my download speed was above 60Mbps and the buffering was ok.
I’m using top of the range gaming router connected to the black box nothing else and the Xbox is connected to the WiFi network just 3 meters no obstacles no nothing.
Something is wrong and I can’t enjoy my lockdown days… Im 6 years TPG customer.
Thank you

What your results using Ethernet Cable (3m not worth using wifi)

If you must use WIFI:

To force xbox to use 5GHz.. pick one...

* 2.4GHz is disable at the router

* toggle off for about a minute till xbox connects to 5GHz (mesh wifi same ssid)

* Label 5GHz band differently from 2.4GHz

Try a speed test at Fast.com using xbox browser..

xbox speed test connect to the US Servers, that's why latency is 160+

Have you tried setting your DNS settings.

DNS1:   8.8.8.8 (Google)

DNS2:   1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare)

I set them on pppoe settings so everyone on the network uses them.

Also helps to access curtains sites that may be blocked.

Hi @TheLink . DNS only gives you the endpoint ip address.

Try this:

ping -n 20 192.168.1.1                                pings the router

ping -n 20 www.tpg.com.au

ping -n 20 tpg.com.au                                 TPG has 2 hostnames

tracert -d www.tpg.com.au

tracert -d tpg.com.au

Do you know the hostname or ip address of the game server? Do ping and tracert to it.

This will show if there are delays in the NBN network or bad routing from TPG to the game server.

Can you do the speed test on TPG's support page. During the test, does the graph go smoothly or stop and start?
