TPG to Shutdown 725 Regional Towers - Which ones?

The new MOCN agreement between Telstra and TPG states that in urban fringe, rural and regional towns TPG will shut down 725 towers. As a resident just outside a regional town where the only coverage comes from a TPG/Vodafone tower we may end up losing all our communications.

So where do you find out which towers are going to be closed and when?

Hi @plam

Welcome to the Community!

The agreement with Telstra will help us broaden our mobile coverage that will help improve our mobile services offered to our customers.

The selected towers in a region/area where Telstra coverage already exists will be considered for closure as part of the agreement.

Thanks @BasilDV

The coverage maps between the two systems (ie Telstra and TPG/Vodafone) in our area do overlap but there are small but unique differences given the terrain. I am concerned that on this basis we might fall into what may be determined as an "insignificant customer base" negatively impacted by these closures.  As per my comment we can only reach the TPG/Vodafone tower. If it is shutdown we will lose all communication, so we would obviously like determine if we are going to be able to continue our business, and get prepared long before the tower is turned off.

The TPG press releases identify very specific numbers for Telstra upgrades of TPG towers (169) and shutdown of regional towers (725) so we assume specific towers have already been identified. Hence the subject of the question. So where do we find such information? If this isnt publically available how do we at least get an idea of timeframe for shutdowns. ie weeks, months, years?

For reference, I contacted VF customer service as well who stated that VF customers will get an SMS to advise of the shutdown just before it occurs. You'll appreciate a message just before a tower shutdown will be catastrophic for our business.

Really appreciate any advice.
