@Arasaka - I have some great news. I raised this formally with support as well, they just got back to me saying give it a test now. They have pushed a new firmware update (details below) and the problem is now fixed! Its possible to use both TPG and GOOGLE DNS servers.  If one fails the other is a back up. leave the primary DNS server setting as 0.0.0.0    it will take the default given by TPG and make the secondary DNS server setting 8.8.8.8.   then press save ( maybe you have to reboot the modem as well I dont know, then reboot pc) the result is  from whatsmydnsserver.com   ...
