If the phone light on the modem is not lit it means that your modem is probably not fully registered on the system. You will need to contact TPG to resolve this.   You could try taking a photo of the label under the modem that shows the MAC address and e-mail it to tpg with a description of your problem. ... If you have your phone plugged into a phone socket on the wall, unplug it. Your phone is probably faulty. Try another one. If its old it probably dosn't generate a tone of sufficient volume. Try running your fingers over the whole of the keypad to see if any of the buttons are lower then the others. Sticky keys can cause problems. ... View more

Make sure your phone is connected to the right socket on the back of the modem. Its useually phone port 1.   Try another phone cord, if you have one. Try another phone if you have one. Is the light marked "phone" lit up on the modem? If its of, the modem may be faulty. Try turning the modem on and of. It might take a few minutes to power up.   If TPG provided you with a modem, it will be replaced free of charge if its faulty.   If you dont have spare cords etc to try, or if the phone light is out you will probably need to contact TPG to get a tech to come and check things out for you. ... If you change provider, Telstra still have to port your original number, regardless of who your new provider is. Make sure that your modem is plugged into the UNi d port and that the LED is on Have you put a pin in the reset hole on the modem? If so, you may have lost the configuration. Do not do this if you do not know how to reconfigure the modem You can serach youtube for videos that show how to put that back. You will need to know your account user name and account user password (dont confuse this with yourr wifi details).   If you have no luck with this you can lodge on online fault report with TPG.com.au   You can directly connect a laaptop to the Uni d port via an ethernet cable to the lan port on a laptop. You wont be able to use wifi, and you will have to follow the "how to set up a dialer" section of the document that I have attached. Did you order a service for your new address? Did you get any confirmation as to what type of technology that your internet service was going to be provided with?   ADSL, FTTN connects via a phone socket. HFC NBN is via a coxial cable from a black box to a modem. FTTC uses a grey NTU and modem, plugged into a phone socket. If you have pushed a pin in the reset hole of the modem, then you have wiped the configuration. It wont work without configuration.   To reconfigure the modem you will need to know your account user name, and account user name password. Dont confuse this with your wifi password. Hi . Modems are single band or dual band. You have a single band. If you take your modem into a shop (Harvey Norman etc) they will be able to supply a similar dual band modem with both 2G and 5G wifi connection to use on your existing service.   It sounds like you might be getting confused with 5G internet through the mobile network, which is a different thing alltogether.
