If you're support site was up last night knowing that it is a DNS issue, I would have used another public DNS like Google, 8.8.8 .8 in the WAN connection string instead of TPG's DNS servers. That would at least temporarily solved the issue for the techies. Now I get a yellow ticked icon next to the internet status icon. For those who game, just go into your Network, EWAN, advanced section and check the ”Use the Following DNS Addresses" to add the DNS server 8.8.8.8. This is for those who has the TPLINK VR1600. Remember once TPG resolves the issue, uncheck "Use the Following DNS Addresses: " to default back to using TPG DNS servers. ... View more

Please TPG develop a disaster response plan to let your so called valueable customers know what the heck is going on with your network outages.  If a mass outage like the one we are having currently, then at least let we know where to get the latest information.  At least own up that there is an major outage.   I for one understand sometimes this things happen.  Having your support pages on your own site failing is not acceptable.  Don't you guys have a DR site?  This is the one thing a DR site is designed for. ... Hi, As I said in my previous post, if indeed you had just taken the VPN Function off from the VR1600 modem, the network access to various VPN service ports should be allowed. I have tried setting up PPTP VPN behind the modem but accessing it from the internet still doesn't work. I am now wondering if anyone in your support staff really know what I am on about here. Also, I had setup 3rd party PPTP VPN behind the TPLINK VR1600 modem with PPTP passthrough and port forwarding on. But I still cannot access port 1723. Hi Basil, I have sent a PM in regards to my TPG account. As for the VPN. It is a VPN server in Tplink VR1600 modem provided by TPG. All is needed is to enable the server and create a user in the admin page and make a connection. I use this VPN PPTP server to connect back to my home network. Thus this is an incoming internet connection. Not an outgoing connection that you would normally connect like "ExpressVPN" or "NORDVPN". ... View more

Hi,   It seems your technical support staff have no idea that was taken out from as a function in the VR1600.  Connecting to VPN PPTP server port 1723 has been allowed by TPG for many years.  Can anyone verify that this port is NOT blocked by TPG firewall?  From internet, there's no reply when telneting to port 1723.   I am on HFC NBN.  My relative who is on TPG FTTC has no problems in connecting from internet to his home via VPN PPTP on the VR1600.  Can telnet to port 1723 from internet.    Can someone from the TPG networking team please investigate this as your 1st line support has no idea.  I have been on numerous calls with them and all I get is runarounds.   Thanks.   Regards, Raymond ...
