@Bayte   Yes,  it stinks that they randomly remove something which you used to make an informed purchasing decision.   I can confirm that I have replaced the boat anchor,  oops,  I mean iiNet router, with another (Netgear NightHawk) and it works just fine!   This includes OpenVPN functionality (which I use to manage resources behind the firwall).  However, the new router allows me to choose some random ports for OpenVPN and therefore I cannot advise whether they block the "standard" OpenVPN ports (irrelevant to me).  But the OpenVPN works just like it used to (better in fact as I can set up a TAP connection as well as TUN)....   Next step for me is to move to an improved proivder,  one that stands by its sales offers. ... Over the Xmas period (when no-one was using the internet connection)  I got around  to replacing the old Archer router and installing a newer, faster,  more functional and VPN-enabled router!!   Wokrs like a dream.  I can VPN into the site at any time for troubleshooting  and siply monitoring the environment,  knwoing that the VPN will offer a high level of security!!   I now have Archer VR1600v v2 whihc I can use to prop up that wonky table. ... Alas I thnk they have us over a barrel.   We could raise a complaint,  but the counter would be that they "have detmerined it to be a security risk"  and it is not a substantial par of their service.   Also,  we would have to show which documents described this feature that we relied on in their original "offer" that caused us to go with them. Now I am beginning to understand why TPG gets low Customer Service ratings.   This problem has impacted me greatly.  My service is for an IT solution for a medium sized businessI, which I sued to be able easily manage remotely.  Now that the inherent VPN capability of the router has disappeared,  it have to go in and do it in person (until I can set up some dedicated solution  whihc of course will incur costs and more maintenance).    This is not including most of yesterday whihc I spent trying to figure what had happened.   TPG - you must to tell people when you remove any service that they been relying on!   Letting them find out themselves is at minimum incompetent,   and, at worst,  culpable.
