Then there is another large increase in ping when hitting Equinix at hop 7, but this is in line with expectations.  I have observed this spike with all 5+ hosts I have tested that are located in the AWS ap-southeast-1 region. It's worth noting that I don't see this ping spike early in the route when connecting to Australian hosts, nor when connecting to hosts in the Azure Singapore region (which have a ping of around 110ms).  ...
