HI! I made an account here to help those that found this post through google and have had this issue from other ISP's or other routers. If you are getting the behaviour mentioned in this thread where you get the speeds you should be getting after upgrading your plan by plugging your device directly into your NBN box but NOT when your router is plugged into your NBN box YOU NEED TO FACTORY RESET YOUR ROUTER FROM THE BACK BY PUTTING A PIN IN THE FACTORY RESET HOLE FOR 30 SECONDS (depends on router check manual).   I know it's annoying to have to re-do all your port forwarding and other settings but this worked for me.
