cancellation or suspension of mobile plan

Hi,
I have a mobile plan only and I would like to cancel my plan (or to suspend it) for few months since I will be abroad.
I'd like to know how to proceed and if my mobile number will still exist when I come back, to restart my plan or another mobile plan.
If you answer me to send a PM, please give me the authorisation because for now, I'm unable to do it. Thks.
