4mb - 5mb Upload Speeds

LeoIbrahim

I am on the TPG 100MB plan and my downloads are great consistently between 88 an 94mb BUT my upload speeds are never over 4-5MB

Spoken to TPG tech team and we are not getting anywhere. Have tried every setting on the modem and they can;t fault it but tell me i must get up to 40mb.

Anyone had this issue and a fix?

I live on Teams conference calls with my work (live in Melbourne, work is global) and the greater uploads will help my video quality immensley!

TIA.

Leo.

Hi @LeoIbrahim . What model router do you have?
Is there any setting in QoS/Bandwidth Control? If you are on 100/40 plan speed, the upload bandwidth should be no more than 39,500 Kbps. (19,500 for 100/20 plan.)

What device did you use for the speed test shown?

Hi,

It is a TP Link Archer VR1600v v1 00000000

My plan is the 100/40 and according to TPG i should be getting close to 40.

The devices I have used for testing with TPG have been a wired Mac Book Pro and Wirless iPhone on the 5G channel.

Im an Enterprise Architect and have been through the router with a fine tooth cob and can not find a setting fault. Neither can TPG.

They are now wanting to reach out to NBN but im thinking the actual router may be the issue.

@LeoIbrahim . Use your Mac for this.

You can ping the router's lan ip address; response time should be 1 ms.

Ping and tracert to TPG; response time should be a few ms.

Yes, I ping the router in under 1ms.. Roughly 0.6

When I ping tpg.com.au it is around 8-10ms

@LeoIbrahim . Your ping to TPG is a bit high. Do tracert. The second address is the router's default gateway which I take to be the other side of the NBN network. Shows if delay is in NBN or then getting to TPG.

@LeoIbrahim . Times seem too high and tracert didn't get to TPG. Do you know anyone else on TPG who could do same for comparison?

I have family near my house on TPG and they get much better upload speeds! 20mb and they are on 100/20

@LeoIbrahim . My mistake. Address 9 would have been TPG.

My ping and tracert times are 6 ms on NBN25.

TPG currently have 2 hosts:

www.tpg.com.au    5 hops

tpg.com.au              7 hops.

Thing to do is get the corresponding figures from your family, open a new thread and include both sets of figures and speed test. Point out you use an ethernet computer.

There are no background uploads happening?
