May we know if this is for a Fixed broadband service or for your Mobile service? 50mb is a pretty low data.
You can change your NBN Plan anytime you want, free of charge and no additional lock-in contract. You may also the articles below including changing of mobile plan:
Note: Any unused portion of the current billing cycle and the credit will be used towards the next bill for the service with the new plan.
