Call from Telstra notifying me of foreign use of IP address

I got a call from someone claiming to be from Telstra - he told me that
My IP address is being used from 9-10 foreign countries
I asked him shouldn’t TPG - my service provider contact me
He said - Telstra looks after security
I told him - I will check with TPG , and that he seems dodgy - he quickly hung up - did not try to prove his credibility

Seems bizarre - anyone else had the same experience?

Thanks for raising this to our attention, it does not make sense for Telstra to contact your about the service IP address. This is an absolute scam, here is an article that you may find helpful.
