Internet cuts off same time every day.

My fixed wireless internet cuts off at 10.06am every single morning (11.06 during daylight savings). It's been happening for over a year.

 

Sometimes it reconnects after a minute, other times in ten or more minutes.

 

Sometimes I have to either restart my computer or restart the NBN box and router.

 

I have tried using a different router than the supplied tplink v1600 and the same thing happens - so it's not the router. There's something at the transmitter level that is causing this.

 

It usually happens in the middle of a Zoom meeting or something important.

 

Can this be looked into please?

Just to add, the NBN connection box always displays a red light during these dropouts. Again, it reconnects on its own sometimes and other times I have to reboot it.

Hi @Wanga . This won't help your network problem, but you could increase the dhcp lease duration quite a bit. Looks like set to 1 minute. You could make it 60 minutes or even longer, unless you are having dozens  of devices passing through per hour.

Does the red light on the NBN box have a meaning? (Eg. Loss of radio signal?)

When I go to the DHCP server setting (in the LAN settings page) the lease time is 1440. Am I in the right place?

PS - the red light means there's no internet connection to the NBN box coming from our fixed wireless tower.

Hi @Wanga . You're in the right place. 1440 is 24 hours. Devices normally do these steps every half duration to get another whole duration. Normal sequence is Discover, Offer, Request, Ack for a MAC address to get an IP address. Some of your devices are repeating the Discover request so they may not be receiving the Offer reply. Eg. the mac address ending in 9B:85. Is that a wifi device?

On this router, does this discover, offer, etc go on all day?  

When you use the other router, does it show the same high activity for discover, offer,...?

On your Windows computer, in command window, do     ipconfig/all

Look at the Lease Obtained and Lease Expires times. Does the duration match the 24 hours you are using?

 

Regarding the red light, which one is it?

Hi @Wanga . You should open a new topic regarding fixed wireless and the red light on outdoor unit indicator happening at the same time each day. Include the router log that shows that router loses internet connection. TPG arranges for NBN to look into this.

Regarding the DHCP messages, if your devices work fine normally, the frequency of the discover, etc may not be a problem. Check the Windows computer that the lease duration is correct. It is up to the device how often it wants to renew the lease.
